Jackson, NJ Police arrest Wall, NJ man after he assaulted man with a machete over personal dispute
Jackson Police arrest a Wall Township man following his machete-wielding attack on a township resident outside of a home on East Pleasant Grove Road on May 11.
The victim got out of a vehicle parked on the road and then started calling for the man he was having a dispute with to come out of the residence across the street, according to police, and then the other man did just that.
However, when the man -- later identified as 20-year-old Julian Ogle -- who was called out exited the residence he grabbed a machete from a car in the driveway and then walked down to meet the man who called him out in the road.
The man who called Ogle out of the home then went into his own car and grabbed a beach chair.
Ogle and the other man then dueled in the street swinging the beach chair and machete at one another.
It got to a point where Ogle had struck the other man several times with a machete and the only reason it stopped was because a group of people who were not involved in the fight stepped in to break it up but not until after another man from the residence Ogle was in got involved and started kicking the victim in the head.
While this was going on, a woman inside of the victim's car was pulled out from the vehicle, thrown to the ground, and assaulted, police said.
Jackson Police said they were dispatched to the scene around 5:15 pm but on his way to the scene, an officer was stopped on Frank Applegate Road by a vehicle with several people inside of it including the man who was attacked by a machete and was suffering from severe head lacerations.
The victim and group relayed to the officer what happened and told them who did it.
Police confirmed what happened by reviewing video surveillance of the incident and later went to the residence where Ogle was, found the machete, and placed him under arrest after he was positively identified.
The victim was treated by First Aid at the scene and eventually brought to the hospital for treatment.
Ogle has been charged with second-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon and brought to the Ocean County Jail.
Jackson Police said that they reached out to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and an Assistant Prosecutor approved the charges.
This investigation is ongoing though which could lead to additional charges.
