An investigation continues into the death of a pedestrian along a busy highway in Monmouth County late Monday night.

Prosecutors say just after 11:15 PM, members of the Aberdeen Township Police Department responded to the northbound lanes of Route 35 between Prospect Avenue and Amboy Road to find a man had been struck by a vehicle.

The victim, from Aberdeen Township, was pronounced dead.

The involved driver, an adult woman who was driving a 2017 Hyundai Sonata, remained at the scene.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of either person involved.

An investigation involving members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and the Aberdeen Township Police Department remains active.

As of Wednesday afternoon, no criminal charges have been filed nor traffic summons issued in this case.
