Published reports say a small plane that crashed in Ocean County late Saturday night started a wildfire.

The aircraft, a single-engine private plane, went down in the area of Mule and Lacey Roads, just west of Robert J. Miller Airpark, according to WPVI-TV.

RLS Media reports at least one person was killed in the crash.

Around 6:00 Sunday morning, the NJ Forest Fire Service said they were working a wildfire in the area of the airpark with portions of Dover and Mule Roads closed.

The plane reportedly left from Monmouth Executive Airport in Farmingdale.

The FAA and New Jersey State Police investigating the incident.
