Wildwood, NJ, Native heading back to West Virginia to play hoops
Wildwood native and 2020 Wildwood Catholic graduate, Taj Thweatt, is heading back to the state of West Virginia to continue his basketball career.
Thweatt started his college career at West Virginia University, appearing in 12 games over his two seasons, averaging 0.7 points per game.
Now he will be heading back to the mountain state to play for Division II Fairmont State, which is located about 20 minutes from Morgantown, home of West Virginia University.
Thweatt played just one season, appearing in just 11 games for the Owls before entering the transfer portal. He also transferred to Coastal Carolina, but never played for the school.
At Wildwood Catholic, he averaged 17.9 points and 7.3 rebounds as a senior and 20.2 points and 10.2 rebounds as a junior for coach Dave DeWeese.
Overall he scored 1,773 points and grabbed 1,028 rebounds during his Crusaders career, leading Wildwood Catholic to three Cape Atlantic League Championships.
He is the second member of that Wildwood Catholic team that left Temple after the 2023-24 season. Earlier this offseason Jahlil White went from Temple to LaSalle.
