The U.S. Postal Service officially launched a new sorting and delivery center on Saturday, May 31, to handle the mail of ten Atlantic County towns.

The Postal Service says the sorting center, at 5 Columbus Ave, Egg Harbor Township, is intended to revitalize the sorting and delivery center concept, the last stop your mail makes before your carrier delivers it.

“We’re transforming our operations to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said acting District Manager Marcellina Del Pizzo in the Press of Atlantic City.

“The new Egg Harbor Township SDC is part of our commitment to delivering faster, more reliable service while creating a better workplace for our dedicated employees.”

New Postal Sorting Center Is Part of Investment in NJ

The Postal Service says this new sorting and delivery center in Egg Harbor Township is part of a $32 million investment in New Jersey infrastructure.

Atlantic County was one of the key markets targeted around the country where it's an improvement to aggregate delivery units into a larger, centrally located sorting and delivery center to simplify the network and create a more reliable and efficient Postal Service.

The Postal Service also plans to renovate three facilities and add over 400 new delivery vehicles around New Jersey.
