More Rite Aid Stores to Close
When Rite Aid declared chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023, it closed more than 800 stores. With the chain now considering a second bankruptcy in two years, more stores could soon be closing.
According to Bloomberg, Rite Aid Corp. is now running low on cash and preparing once again to sell itself as a second bankruptcy looms. The company intends to sell individual stores and close many of the rest, according to the report.
Based on its statement about the closing of the Neptune store, Rite Aid, the nation's third-largest drug store chain behind Walgreens and CVS, still seems to think it can right the financial ship.
"Demand for our products and services remains strong, and we continue to serve our customers with the same high-quality service they have come to expect from us.
We believe we are taking the right approach to becoming more agile as we meet the health and wellness needs of customers in the communities we serve."
Rite Aid still has more than 1,300 stores in 15 states.
