
New Jersey State Police Warn of Dangerous Escaped Sex Offender

The New Jersey State Police has issued a warning.
A dangerous sex offender has escaped from custody.
Police are asking the public to be on the lookout as they conduct their manhunt.
New Jersey State Police say Nicholas Voutsas, a 25-year-old male, escaped from a New Jersey Department of Health medical transport van that was scheduled to transport him to University Hospital in Newark, Essex County.
They say the escape occurred on Thursday morning, January 30 at approximately 9 o'clock.
The New Jersey State Human Services Police Department says Nicholas Voutsas will be charged with escape when he is caught.

Nicholas Voutsas is six feet tall and weighs approximately 260 pounds.
He has brown hair and blue eyes and he has a mole on his right cheek,
Voutsas was last seen in the vicinity of University Hospital near South Orange Avenue and Bergen Street in Newark, Essex County.
At the time of Voutsas' escape, he was wearing a maroon or burgundy winter coat.
Voutsas is a Tier 2 registered sex offender.
Sex offenders are classified into three tiers.
According to screenandreveal.com, tier two sex offenders,
usually involves persons who have committed an offense after previously being registered as tier 1 or have committed sexual offenses against minors or several indiscretions of the same nature. It may also include but is not limited to a sexual act punishable by more than one year in prison.
Voutsas is described by the sex offender registry as a "repetitive and compulsive" offender.
