One of the most controversial awards at Sunday's Golden Globes Awards involved a South Jersey actor.

Many fans and critics feel Cristin Milioti was "robbed' when Jodi Foster won the Best Actress in a Limited Series award on Sunday night.

Cristin Milioti grew up in South Jersey (she graduated from Cherry Hill High), and spent lots of time visiting her grandparents and family in Ventnor.

She was nominated for her role as mob heiress Sofia Falcone in The Penguin on HBO Max.

A Tough Competition

When the nominations came out, Milioti told the Hollywood Reporter she found out she was nominated while getting ready to take her dog, Rupert, for a walk when her phone started to blow up.

"It was very exciting, very exciting. And just very, very joyful. My God, the women in my category. I don't have words to describe how surreal it is and how overwhelmed I am being nominated alongside them. They're all so brilliant."

She's not kidding, either.

Also nominated in the best performance by a female actor in a limited series or motion picture for TV category was Cate Blanchett (Disclaimer), Sofia Vergara (Griselda), Kate Winslet (The Regime), Naomi Watts (Feud: Capote vs. The Swans) and Jodi Foster (True Detective: Night Country)

Jodi Foster took home the Golden Globe for her role as police chief Liz Danvers in True Detective Night Country.

Fan Reaction to the Cristin Milioti Snub

You don't have to look for long online to find fans who are unhappy with the decision.

After all, her acting partner, Colin Farrell won Best Actor in a Limited Series for his performance as Oz Cobb in The Penguin.

But Christen, who fans say stole the show in the series, was left at the alter.

Immediately after Jodi Foster's name was called, fans started complaining about the choice online.

On X, formally Twitter, one angry fan wrote, There is no way Jodi Foster should have won award for Night Country over Cristen Milioti in The Penguin."

Another commented: Damnit. I mean I love Jodi Foster so much so I can't be mad because seriously she's God as far as I'm concerned. But Cristin Milioti got robbed."

Someone else opined: "I watched both true detective and the penguin and although Jodi foster is an incredible actress, Cristin Milioti was ROBBED."

And then there was this one: "Cristin Milioti was just robbed. Her performance in Penguin was sooo much more impactful than Jodi Foster's in True Detective. It wasn't even close. I can't wrap my brain around it."

One reaction took the cake, though, at least from what I heard.

I didn't actually see the announcement of the winner, but I am told fellow nominee Sofía Vergara heckled Foster as she walked to the stage, half-joking that Jodi had won too many awards. Ouch!
