Behind on Your Atlantic City Electric Bill? Relief Money Is Here
The blowback from rising electric bills is causing widespread shock and frustration.
If it makes you feel any better, it is happening all over the country, but knowing that doesn't make it any easier to pay the bills, does it?
The financial hardship from these higher bills is making it especially tough during this cold winter weather.
For many people in lower and moderate-income situations, it is just not possible to keep up with the skyrocketing cost of utility bills for about the same amount of usage as in previous years.
A nationwide survey found 62% of Americans said their electricity bills are higher than a year ago, with many feeling powerless to control costs.
Another poll reported 73% of respondents are worried about rising utility costs, including stress about paying these bills.
You see it and hear about it everywhere, from your neighbors to community protests to online rants.
Electric companies around America are hearing it, too.
Atlantic City Electric Responds By Increasing Relief Fund
Atlantic City Electric is responding by increasing the amount of money it offers in its customer relief fund.
Atlantic City Electric announced this week that it is teaming with it is teaming with its nonprofit partner SHARES to provide eligible customers with a higher relief grant this winter.
Atlantic City Electric is increasing the one-time grants up to $500, up from $300 previously. People who have already used the relief grants will automatically receive the difference from the original $300, up to $500, credited to their account.
“We know rising energy supply costs are putting real strain on families, especially during these cold winter months,” said Tyler Anthony, President and CEO of Pepco Holdings.
“Our goal is to be a steady source of support that our customers can count on, not just in moments of need, but as part of a long-term commitment to affordability and reliability."
How the Customer Relief Fund Works
The fund is open to active, limited-income customers who are income-qualified for federal and state energy assistance programs and owe at least $250 from previous bills.
Moderate-income customers who meet certain income eligibility requirements may also be eligible for support. Once you are approved, the grant money will be credited to your Atlantic City Electric account.
