Hundreds of New Jerseyans will be out in full force this weekend helping clean up our beaches. It's just amazing seeing everyone work together to make our beaches beautiful after a rough, wet winter.

From Clean Ocean Act Facebook Page: "After investigating further, COA's staff found thousands — possibly hundreds of thousands — of these pumice-like, lightweight, gray, porous stones washed up from Pier Village to the entrance of Sandy Hook. They’re all similar in size, a few pieces can easily fit in the palm of a hand, and they float! Some pieces appear smoothed or shaped, with faint grid-like marks suggesting they may be manmade."

Also from COA : "The stones may have possibly been used in industrial, water or wastewater filtration systems, landscaping, or construction. Recent heavy storms caused flooding, possibly releasing the material into a NY/NJ waterway, ultimately flowing into the ocean."
The investigation continues on these mysterious stones at the Jersey Shore.

School groups, different sports teams come together, boy scout and girl scout groups, kids and families all working together. If you've never helped with beach clean-ups, maybe this year. Click here to register.
