When Will Old Man Winter Pay His First Visit To New Jersey?

October is about to begin and soon the Garden State will receive its first taste of colder weather when we get the first "frost" in New Jersey and around the Northeast. September felt cooler at times, but not cold. Some days, we had "muggy" weather with more humidity. So recapping September, it was a mixed bag in September.

According to a Better Homes and Gardens post, "If you know when you can expect the first frost of winter, you can prepare your plants accordingly—and even minimize the damage the chill can do. In your garden, you may have all kinds of gorgeous annuals, tropical plants, veggies, and herbs that you'd like to enjoy for as long as possible before the first frost date. Once air temperatures drop to 36°F or below, the leaves of these plants will wither and blacken, bringing your garden party to a halt. Knowing your region's average first frost date helps you get ahead of those potential problems, giving you time to bring frost-sensitive plants indoors and clean up your garden for the winter."
