Heading out of town without our four-legged friends can tug at the heartstrings of pet parents, especially those of us with canine companions.

The burning question arises: what's the plan when you find yourself out of town for more than a day? Are you banking on the neighborly goodwill to let your pup out for a bathroom break, trusting a family member to be the caretaker, or considering the vibrant world of doggie daycares?

In searching across Facebook groups here in Ocean and Monmouth counties, according to comments posted, there are plenty of trusted places where your pup can feel right at home.

Here are a few of the places that came up often in my social searches, along with some of the comments made:

Happy Tails in Farmingdale:

"Happy Tails is like a second home for my dog! The staff is caring, and the positive environment puts my mind at ease."

Green Leaf Pet Resort in Oakhurst and Millstone:

"Green Leaf is a doggy paradise! Unrestricted playtime is a game-changer, and the possibility of a pool just adds to the excitement."

The Madison Dog Resort and Spa in Brick:

"The staff at Madison Dog Resort is professional and friendly, making it easy to trust them with my pet's care."

Oakhurst Veterinary in Oakhurst:

"Knowing that Oakhurst Veterinary offers boarding gives me peace of mind when I have to be away. The care is exceptional."

Camp Bow Wow in Eatontown:

"Camp Bow Wow is a doggy adventure camp! My pup is always excited to go, and I love the daily activities they offer."
