Step Into History: These Are the Oldest Restaurants in Every State (NJ’s Is from the 1750s!)
Two topics that I love to write about are food and history, and when you can combine the two, you have a very tasty tale, pun intended. This article deals with both and is a trip through time with the most historic restaurants in America, including the pick for New Jersey's most historic eatery, which dates back to the 1700s.

The Most Historic Restaurants In America
Ethan Adams wrote an article for Foodie Haven, and it was all about historic sites, "Grab A Nostalgic Bite At The Oldest Restaurant In Each U.S. State". His piece goes through each state and shares its most historic restaurant. "Have you ever wondered what it would be like to dine where cowboys and presidents once sat? Across the United States, some restaurants have been serving up meals for centuries, dishing out great food and stories with an authentic taste of the past."
New Jersey's Most Historic Restaurant
New Jersey has a deep history because it is one of the oldest states in America. So it is no surprise that our choice here in the Garden State dates back 275 years. We find ourselves in Middlesex County in the town of Cranbury and the Cranbury Inn.
According to Foodie Haven, "Dining at The Cranbury Inn is more than just a meal; it’s an opportunity to savor history alongside classic New Jersey fare. Located in Cranbury, the 1750s inn has been a beloved part of the community since the 1750s, merging two historic taverns into one memorable experience."
