New Jersey Update: Peloton Recalls Over 800,000 Bikes
If you’re one of the thousands of Peloton riders in New Jersey, take note.
Peloton has issued a major recall of its Original Series Bike+ model (Model PL02) after reports of seat post failures that could lead to falls and injuries.
The Recall Details
Announced on November 6, 2025, the recall affects approximately 833,000 units of the Peloton Bike+ sold nationwide. The issue? The seat post assembly can break during use, posing a risk of the rider losing balance and getting hurt.
So far, Peloton has confirmed three incidents in which the seat post broke and detached from the bike mid-ride, two of those resulting in injuries.
How to Identify Your Bike
The recall applies only to the Peloton Original Series Bike+ units, model PL02, with serial numbers beginning with the letter “T.”
Your serial number can be found:
- Inside or behind the front fork, or
- Behind the flywheel on the bike’s frame.
Peloton has also provided a guide online showing exactly where to find your serial number if you need help.
What You Should Do
Peloton is urging customers to stop using their Bike+ immediately until the repair is complete. However, the company is providing a free seat post replacement, which customers can install themselves.
Here’s how to claim your free repair:
- Visit Peloton’s Recall Information Page
- Or go to www.onepeloton.com and scroll to the bottom to click “Product Recalls”
- You can also call Peloton directly at 866-679-9129, available from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. ET, Monday through Friday
Information on the recall according to cpc.gov.
Why It Matters in New Jersey
Peloton bikes are incredibly popular in New Jersey homes, especially during colder months when many residents turn to indoor fitness routines. If you own a Bike+, or recently purchased one secondhand, it’s important to check your serial number and request your replacement part right away.
Safety First
Although Peloton says only a small number of incidents have been reported, they’re taking the recall seriously to ensure customer safety. Replacing the seat post takes only a few minutes and can prevent potential injury from a sudden break while cycling.
