OPINION: New Data On Cell Phone Ban In Schools In New Jersey Is Out!
Where Do You Stand On Banning Cell Phones In New Jersey Schools?
Governor Murphy is supporting a cell phone ban on kids K-12 here in New Jersey. According to NJ.com "Gov. Phil Murphy wants to give New Jersey school districts $3 million to help implement cellphone bans in the classroom after publicly backing the policy in his State of the State address last month."

The issue of banning cell phones in schools has been a hot topic and now new data is in with a look at polls that were done on the issue. Personally, I support a cell phone ban for K-12. It's just too distracting and can become part of social media blitzes with photos and videos that usually have a negative undertone. I know people site safety, but with teachers and security equipped with phones and emergency features, the students should be fine. Kids can use a break from the electronics and school is the perfect time to do just that. How do you feel? Take our survey...
As for the recent poll data, in a recent Patch article, they highlighted a survey of residents on the topic of a cell phone ban in New Jersey schools K-12 and the numbers are not that shocking.
In a new survey by Fairleigh Dickinson University, "The biggest driver of views on a cell phone ban is age. Fully 70 percent of the youngest voters – those 30 and under – oppose a ban; among the oldest voters (those 65 and up), this is basically flipped, with 65 percent supporting a ban," according to a statement by Dan Cassino, Executive Director of the Fairleigh Dickinson University poll and a professor of government and politics at the university." So as I said these numbers are no surprise.
In addition, "A Pew Research Center survey found that 68 percent of adults in the United States support banning cell phone usage during class, but only 36 percent support a full-day ban."
