I probably don’t need to tell you that this is a very tough time for volunteer fire companies and first aid squads when it comes to money and manpower.  We often don’t think about these first responders until we need them and if they were not there then…well you get the picture.

Having grown up in Seaside Heights I am very familiar with the Tri-Boro First Aid Squad whose headquarters are located on J Street in Seaside Park and they serve both those towns, Lavallette and the South Seaside Park section of Berkeley Township. By the way in my life they took me on a ride or two to the hospital.

Times though have forced them to go to paid EMT’s and there are still bills to pay and without added support they could be forced to close their doors. With all that said the people at Klee’s Bar & Grill and their newly opened Henry’s at Klee’s are holding a gift auction fundraiser this Sunday to help raise badly needed funds to keep the Tri-Boro First Aid Squad serving the island community.

The event will take place at Henry’s (which is next door) from 4-8pm and for a $25 donation you will receive a welcoming cocktail, pass around hors d’oeuvres, and tickets for the prize baskets.  Of course additional tickets can be purchased at the event which should be a great time for an even greater cause. Cash or checks made out to the Tri-Boro First Aid Squad will be accepted. Advance tickets are available at Klee’s and Seaside Park Service Center.

In full disclosure I would be there but will be watching my daughter Alex run in the New York City Marathon.

Those who live on the island community need to know when they call for the first aid squad there will be someone to answer that call. Stop by Henry's in Seaside Heights on Sunday to help that continue.

These are the long-gone NJ mall stores we miss the most

With so many trends of the 1990's back in style, it's a great time to look back at a strong foundation of 80's and 90's culture — New Jersey mall shopping. Some stores were a highlight, every trip.
