Bankrupt Retail Chain Eddie Bauer Plans Store Closures, Including Locations in New Jersey
Bankruptcy is a legal process that helps people or businesses who can’t pay their debts. It allows them to either reorganize their finances and create a plan to repay what they owe over time, or, in some cases, have certain debts wiped out completely.

The process is handled through the courts and is meant to give the debtor a fresh financial start while also making sure creditors are treated fairly.
What is the "Eddie Bauer" Brand?
Eddie Bauer got its start in 1920 in Seattle when outdoorsman Eddie Bauer opened a small shop selling sporting goods. The brand really took off after he created one of the first quilted down jackets in the U.S., designed to keep people warm during outdoor adventures.
Over time, the company grew into a well-known name for casual and outdoor-style clothing, opening stores across the country and becoming a familiar mall brand, even while going through a few ownership changes and financial ups and downs over the years.
According to a recent Patch report, "RCS Real Estate Advisors has been retained to market the leases of Eddie Bauer stores throughout the U.S. and Canada after the deadline for securing a buyer for the chain expired on Friday."
I am sad about this development because I like Eddie Bauer gear. I like their clothes; they are a quality product with a good look. This brand will be missed.
In addition, "According to USA Today, bankruptcy filing documents state Eddie Bauer's brick-and-mortar locations won't accept gift cards after March 12. No refunds or returns will be accepted either."
