The first full weekend of October will be a firm reminder that for the most part beach season is all but over.  There might be a day or two in the upper 60’s but that’s about it and it is time to shut off the AC, bring out your sweatpants and hoodies and begin the process of raking leaves. Anyway try and enjoy this month because what’s behind it will be worse.

This is already the sixth weekend of the high school football season and five Shore Conference teams will put perfect records on the line which will at least be reduced by one.  That’s because both Jackson Memorial and Marlboro bring 5-0 records into their game Saturday afternoon at “The Corral” which is the Mustangs home.  The Freedom Division title is also on the line.

As for the other undefeated teams, Point Boro, averaging a shore-leading 42 points per game will visit Manalapan tonight…Holmdel, who only gives up four points a game will host Ocean tonight and explosive Brick Memorial, led by quarterback Connor Dietz heads to Freehold Boro Saturday afternoon looking to improve to 7-0.  Remember the expanded state playoffs begin at the end of this month.

You have heard me talk about the 6th Annual Causeway CARes 5K Run and Walk and race day is almost here.  Hosted and sponsored by the Causeway Family of Dealerships on Sunday at Southern Regional High School the event will bring together runners and walkers of all levels.  Causeway CARes will donate all proceeds, including sponsorships to non-profits in the community who are addressing vital needs.  You can register right up to race time (8:45/9am) but you must do it online at raceforum.com/CAUSEWAY.
