Van Halen’s David Lee Roth Is Coming to the Jersey Shore
One of America’s most popular bands of the late 70s, 80s, and early 90s was Van Halen. The band was a hard-touring California band until their self-titled debut album came out on February 10th, 1978, and we wore that vinyl out.

The frontman in the beginning for Van Halen was the eccentric lead singer, David Lee Roth. Roth was with the band until April of 1985, when he left to pursue a solo career.
Roth had success early in his solo venture and would later, at the end of Van Halen’s run, before the death of Eddie Van Halen, reunite briefly with the band.
Now 54 years (1972) after Van Halen originally formed, Roth is back on the road and bringing the Van Halen catalog to venues around the country, and he’s making a stop this summer at the Jersey Shore!
It was announced on social media that David Lee Roth will be coming to Monmouth County and doing a concert at the Historic Stone Pony in Asbury Park on their iconic “Summer Stage,” and tickets go on sale this week!

First and only time I saw Van Halen, with David Lee Roth, was the Fair Warning Tour 1981 at the old Spectrum in Philadelphia. It was a good show, and I liked the Fair Warning album, so I especially enjoyed this tour.

Transportation was expensive from Philadelphia that summer, lol. That is a whole other article. Ok, I will tell you, I got separated from my group, I came with and I could not find them as we left the show. I searched everywhere around the stadium, but I was on my own.
This was 1981, so there were no cell phones, no Uber, no nothing except a taxi. It was my final solution to get home. Needless to say, I did not have the money, and my parents were not pleased with the bill lol which was pretty expensive. My friend who brought me was staying at our house that night, had to come home and tell my parents he lost me in Philadelphia lol that went over big, yes it was a hot mess in our house that weekend lol I did get home and survived, barely lol.
