When you go to your 10-year high school reunion you expect that people haven’t changed all that much and you’ll have little trouble recognizing most of them.  At your 25-year get together it becomes more challenging and the key is to not get caught staring at name tags while engaged in conversation.  I fully expected when attending my 50-year reunion this past weekend that I would be lost and likely embarrass myself over failure to remember names and faces.  Well surprise surprise!

Central Regional High School’s Class of 73’ looks pretty darn good for a group in their late 60’s.  Our reunion was held at The Captain’s Inn in Forked River which is also where we had our 25-year get together.  This group was considerably smaller but we had those who traveled from California, Texas, Wisconsin, Florida and other places to wax poetic about the old days and also share stories of family and more.

Yeah there were a few times when I needed the name tags but I was really amazed at how many of my classmates looked just liked I remembered them.  I really enjoyed the evening in which I served as Master of Ceremonies and left with a bottle of Boone’s Farm wine which was a reminder of parties during our high school days. In truth I was more of a beer guy but tasted my fair share of the original apple flavor.

Kudos to Liz Hutler and her group of girls for all the hard work to put it together and there is a rumor that we might even try for a 55th class reunion.  I’m in… if I’m around.  I might even replace Murray Glendenning as the singer of our school song…NOT!
