The "Top 5" 24-Hour Diners in New Jersey

Diners are beloved in New Jersey because they’re a big part of the state’s culture and community. Open late (or even 24 hours), they offer comfort food, friendly service, and a welcoming place for everyone, from families to night-shift workers. Their huge menus mean there’s something for every craving, whether it’s breakfast at midnight or a burger after work.

More than just restaurants, diners in New Jersey feel like local gathering spots where people connect, relax, and enjoy a sense of home.

New Jersey’s first diner was in Newark. It opened in 1913, started by Jerry O’Mahony, who served food from a small lunch wagon. That little diner began New Jersey’s famous diner tradition.

Personally, I love having breakfast at New Jersey diners. Breakfast at any time of the day or night at a Jersey diner is always a delicious meal. Whether it's fantastic omelets or fluffy pancakes or delicious waffles, breakfast at a Jersey diner has always been a favorite of mine. Add to that a pot of fresh diner coffee and you are in business!
