Let’s talk numbers.

According to USA Today, the average family with kids in elementary through high school spends around $874.68 on clothes, shoes, electronics, and supplies.

For a New Jersey family with four kids? That’s nearly $3,500 to kick off the school year. Yikes.

Sure, public school families don’t deal with tuition, but let’s not forget about those ever-climbing property taxes.

And for those who choose the private school route, well, brace yourself—it’s not cheap.

The most expensive high school in New Jersey is The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville.

Alot.com says:

This school's description sounds like a real-life Hogwarts. It follows a house system in which students are divided into houses and mingle largely among themselves, but they also form friendships and are peers with students from other houses. The school also has a tight schedule that everyone follows to ensure they are getting the most out of their experience at this boarding school. If you want prestige in New Jersey, this looks like the place to be, and it’s only $79,500 yearly!
