Do You Really Want To Know New Jersey’s Thanksgiving Calorie Count?
We're not even sure we want to do this, but since knowledge is power, we want to let you know the calorie count for some popular Thanksgiving foods.
Let's get on the record that we think Thanksgiving is about family, friends warm feelings, and celebration.
We don't think you should feel guilty at all about going a little overboard when it comes to eating this Thanksgiving.
Short of medical limitations, we think eating a holiday meal with those we love is good for our souls, so it can't be all that bad for our health, right?
Having said that, you may still want to make educated choices during the feast, so here's some info from Avera that might help you out.
Here is the calorie count for some of the most popular Thanksgiving foods.
Turkey (8 ounces) - 480 calories
Stuffing (1 cup) - 350 calories
Pumpkin Pie (1 slice) - 350 calories
Mashed Potatoes & Gravy (1 cup) - 257 calories
As you can see, even with the basic Thanksgiving meal, the calories add up quickly. As a matter of fact, Wren Kitchens estimates that when all the eating and drinking are done on Thanksgiving, the average person will have taken in 6300 calories.
So, even though we know it's not realistic, we came up with a staggering number for you to try to digest before Thanksgiving arrives.
Hypothetically, that means that if every single person in New Jersey consumed that meal, the Garden State would be responsible for consuming about 58,000,000,000 calories in just one day this week.
So, we really are glad that we are not counting.
