We love it when New Jersey gets praised for its best beach towns, and we should. We have a lot of great beach towns to be proud of. This time, however, New Jersey has really been snubbed.

I think deep down New Jersey beach towns feel like we get used by the rest of the nation and then get mocked and discarded.

Sure, everyone loads up our beach towns each summer, making it hard for locals to even get out of their own driveway. And even while our shore towns get packed with visitors, the stream of Jersey jokes never seems to end.

A recent article at Stacker is just another indication to me that the 'use them and discard them' theory really does apply to the Garden State.

The article lists the top 25 best East Coast beach towns to live in all year round. Of course, our first question is how many New Jersey towns are on the list, and we quickly found out.

The answer is exactly zero. Wait, what? Are we to believe that the very towns that are packed to capacity every single day all summer long somehow became uninhabitable when the temperatures dropped?

Nothing against the towns that did make the list, but it's hard for me to believe that anyone who contributed to this list could have ever been to Spring Lake, Avon-by-the-Sea, Point Pleasant Beach, or Asbury Park during the off-season and still left them off this list.

I'm not even saying all of them should have made the list (although that would have been nice). But, how could there not even be one on it?

Sure, I might be playing favorites here, but I think those towns and many others in New Jersey should get consideration the next time this list is updated. It's just my opinion, the opinion of an avid Jersey Shore lover.
