TikTok Has Become One Of The Biggest Social Media Platforms In The World
TikTok is the social media phenomenon that took the world by storm during COVID-19, bringing short-form video entertainment made by real people into the mainstream. Today, TikTok is arguably the biggest social media platform in the world, and TikTok influencers are kind of like the new celebrities, and this is where our conspiracy begins.
Ocean County Has Been Popping Up On TikTok More And More
Over the past few weeks, I've noticed more and more TikTok videos being pushed into my feed about Ocean County. Influencers were showing up in places like Jackson and Brick, or somewhere in lower Ocean County, saying how you need to try this restaurant, or this sandwich shop.
Now, here's where the tinfoil hat comes in.
Is Ocean County At The Heart Of A Social Media Conspiracy Theory?
Another TikTok user noticed a drastic increase in Ocean County-based TikTok videos showing up on her feed. Influencers with millions and millions of followers, who clearly weren't from the area, saying people need to come to Ocean County to check out the food, or to even move here.
According to user Everything.Is.Sacred, these influencers are being paid and are part of a larger revitalization effort for Ocean County. Viewer discretion: there are a few 'F' bombs in this video.
It's an interesting thought; is there a larger parent company called Mischief that's hiring these influencers to convince more people to move to Ocean County so they can further develop the area? Maybe.
Or maybe some of these businesses are paying these influencers themselves so they can advertise, because let's be honest, Ocean County is home to some pretty solid hidden gems that are worth sharing with the world.
