JPMorgan Chase Announces More NJ Layoffs, Bringing 2026 Total Past 630
Getting a job in the year 2026 can be a serious challenge. I have friends who've been on the hunt for a career for months on end and are still coming up with no leads. So when you have a job, it's something you really do want to hold onto as long as possible.
Sadly, sometimes it just doesn't work out, and layoffs occur. Whether it's restructuring or just a downturn in the economy, you can do everything right and still end up without a job.
Major NJ Employer Announces Another Round Of Layoffs Coming
Sadly, that's happening again in Jersey, and this time, with a company that's already made some major cutbacks in the Garden State this year, in total, the company has cut more than 630 jobs in Jersey in 2026.

JPMorgan Chase Announces More Layoffs Are Coming To New Jersey This Year
According to NJ.com, JPMorgan Chase has announced that it's going to be laying off 91 workers in its Jersey City branch, between October 30th, 2026, and January 24th, 2027.
This is coming off layoffs over the summer that saw the company cut roughly 63 jobs in Jersey back in June.
These Layoffs Are Part Of Regular Business Management Operations
Executives at JPMorgan Chase, however, say this is all part of regular business management: cutting where necessary, in order to improve the structure of the business. And to date, JPMorgan Chase still employs over 12,000 people in Jersey and is actively recruiting in the Garden State as well.
Employers Must Follow Certain Laws When Laying People Off In NJ
What I do find interesting about layoffs in New Jersey is that they work under the 'Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act,' where businesses have to inform employees of mass layoffs up to 60 days prior to the layoffs happening. I've never heard of that before moving to Jersey.
