TRENTON — The rain has forced the cancellation of some Memorial Day parades around the state.

Meteorologist Dan Zarrow said the steadiest rain will fall mostly in the morning with the chance of thunderstorms. Memorial services are still taking place in most cases with no makeup date given for the parade.

Among the canceled parades:

    • Alpine - Memorial service will be held at the fire department at 11 a.m.
    • Allendale - Service will be held at 10 a.m. at the Brookside School
    • Berkeley Heights (Union County) - Service at 11 a.m.at town hall
    • Brick  - Memorial service will still take place at town hall at 11 a.m
    • Cranford - Memorial service will be held at the Community Center at 10 a.m.
    • East Orange - Memorial service will still take place at City Hall at 9 a.m.
    • Fair Haven - Memorial service will still take place at Knollwood School's all-purpose room at 9:30 a.m.
    • Highland Park
    • Ho Ho Kus - Memorial service in Borough Hall chambers at 11 a.m.
    • Jamesburg
    • Lacey - Memorial service takes place a t1 a.m. at Bicentennial Park
    • Lakewood
    • Lyndhurst - Memorial service still takes place at the Senior Center at 10:15 a.m.
    • Madison - Memorial service  will still take place at the Hartley Dodge Memorial Court Room located at 50 Kings Road
    • Metuchen - Memorial service will be held at the American Legion on Calvin Place at 11:30 a.m.
    • New Brunswick
    • Norwood - Ceremony will take place at the firehouse at 11 a.m.
    • Perth Amboy -Memorial service takes place at 11:00 am at the American Legion Post 45 located at 530 Smith S
    • Rochelle Park - Memorial service will take place at American Legion Post 170's pavilion at 9:30 .
    • Roxbury - Memorial service takes place at 11 a.m.
    • Summit - Memorial service takes place on the Village Green at 10:30 a.m.
    • Sayreville
    • Toms River
    • Verona - Memorial service takes place at town hall at 10 a.m.
    • West Caldwell - Memorial service at firehouse at 10 a.m.
    • Westfield - Memorial service at the First United Methodist Church at 9 a.m.
