Everyone worries about ID theft and fraud and according to some recently publishes research, if you live in New Jersey, you have good reason to be concerned.

According to a report at Wallet Hub, New Jersey is the third most vulnerable state in the nation for ID theft and fraud, and as you dig into the data, you will become more and more alarmed.

The study used many factors to come to their conclusions, including each state's ranking in  ID theft, fraud, policy and amount of loss, and the findings were pretty dire for Garden State residents.

Our rank for amount of loss due to online identity theft is 5th worst in the nation. Our policy rank places us 5th, and the worst news of all is that when it comes specifically to identity theft rank, we are on top of the list. Yep, we're ranked first for worst ID theft numbers.

This is bad news for New Jersey residents, but remember, there are things you can do to prevent these things from happening to you. Experts remind you to use strong passwords, get credit monitoring, and use common sense when you're online.
