House Explodes in South Jersey; Couple Pulled from Debris
NEW JERSEY 101.5
A town official in Cape May County says neighbors worked to free an elderly couple trapped in the debris of a house that exploded.
Lower Township Manager Michael Voll tells WPVI-TV that he was in the area when the house blew up at about 4 p.m. Thursday.
He says it sounded louder than thunder.
The blast leveled the house and sent debris flying onto neighboring properties and into the street. Voll says 30-40 neighbors deserve "kudos" for teaming up to pull the couple out of the debris. The victims were taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center in critical condition.
The township manager says new gas lines were just installed in the neighborhood.
