
Holy Torpedo! Bomb Scare Evacuates Whiting Community
The discovery of a 25 pound artillery round in a foreclosed mobile home in Manchester causes a bomb scare at the Pine Ridge Mobile Home Park.

Township Police say the object was found by a cleaning crew in the unit on Woodchuck Parkway in the Whiting section but it didn't stop there. The cleaning crew brought the 18 to 20 inch long item that resembled a military bomb to the Pine Ridge's main office on Fox Street.
Manchester Police were notified and they along with the Whiting Fire company evacuated approximately 20 mobile home residence as a precaution. Police say the Air Force Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit from Fort Dix were called in and determined the object to be a 25 pound practice bomb used as a military training aid for pilots.

Staff Sergeant Burnash removed the practice bomb and took it for proper disposal. Residents were allowed to re-enter an hour later.
