Holmdel High School lacrosse player Jack Dowd dies
HOLMDEL — A Monmouth County high school lacrosse player has died.
News 12 New Jersey reported that Holmdel school superintendent Robert McGarry sent a letter to parents on Sunday night about the death of junior Jack Dowd. McGarry's letter did not disclose any details about when he died or the circumstances.
Jack Dowd's father, Sean Dowd, is an English teacher at Holmdel High School.
The Shore Sports Network reported that Jack Dowd was a long-stick midfielder in the spring for the Hornets.
Grief counselors were at the school on Monday.
McGarry has not yet returned a message from New Jersey 101.5.
