Happy Birthday 45 RPM Records
The very first 45 RPM records were introduced by RCA Victor this very day in 1949. They were released as a set, and color-coded according to genre. Red was classical, blue was for kids/novelty, green was country, and the one below, cerise, was for R&B records. That first R&B song, "That's All Right" by Arthur Big Boy Crudup is historic in that besides being the first R&B 45, it was later covered by Elvis Presley and it became his first recording (Sun Records).
