Singer, songwriter HANK BALLARD was born this day in 1927. Truly one of rock and roll's pioneers, Hank scored numerous hits on the R&B charts in the early and mid 1950s with the Midnighters, such as "Work with Me Annie," "Annie Had a Baby," "Annie's Aunt Fannie" and "Sexy Ways." He made a huge comeback in the early 1960s with "Finger Poppin' Time" and the Top Ten smash "Let's Go, Let's Go, "Let's Go."  In between, he wrote one of the most important songs of the rock era, "The Twist." Hank's original version of the song was a modest hit, but when it was covered by Chubby Checker it became a sensation. Here's Hank in a rare clip on TV's legendary To Tell the Truth, attempting to stump the panel of Tom Poston, Orson Bean, etc. Click on the link below to enjoy this historic game show clip.
