The Patriots had a perfect week last week, buoyed by three strong performances by Tonino. The freshman scored 13 points vs. Manalapan, poured in a career-high 24 in a 58-55 win over Long Branch and helped spearhead an overtime win over Burlington Twp. with 16 points.
In her first varsity season, Tonino is averaging better than 11 points per game for the Patriots, who rallied to get their record to 7-8 with the 4-0 week before dropping games to Middletown South and Marlboro during the current week.
The Week 7 Girls Player of the Week Contest came down to just two votes, which was the margin of victory for Tonino over runner-up and fellow freshman Kiera McKown from Howell. As the latest Seaview Orthopaedics Player of the Week in girls basketball for the 2021-22 season, Tonino will be awarded a $25 gift card to Jersey Mike's.
