Get ’em while they last – hundreds of jobs at Jenkinson’s in Point Beach

After your done celebrating all things Irish this weekend with the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in Seaside Heights, drive up Route 35 on Sunday to Jenkinson's Boardwalk for their summer job fair.

"Jenkinson's is a great place to work," said Christine Karaska with the New Jersey Department of Labor.

She adds that they've already had up to 400 job openings this year alone, and says that if you plan on attending the job fair Sunday or next Saturday be sure to dress for success.

"Stick that hand out, shake their hand and give them a couple reasons why they should hire you with a smile on your face and you have a good chance of getting a job," said Karaska.

The job fair at Jenkinson's runs from noon until three pm on Sunday March 12 and Saturday March 18 and you need to bring two forms of I-D.

If you've ever wanted to work on the boardwalk or the beach, this summer may be your chance to apply to a number of positions.

"Game operators, ride operators, bar tenders, servers, cooks, cashiers, etc.," said Karaska.

She adds that another favorite position among applicants has been beach badge checker.

They also have jobs for minors as young as 14 or 15-years old at the fair but Karaska stresses the importance of coming early, "because there are a limited number of vacancies for minors given what the child labor laws are."

She adds that they know minors don't have much work experience, and that's okay, so she recommends bringing their report card.

"That is their work history," said Karaska. "In my experience, good students make good employees."

Any parents accompanying minors can do so walking to the job fair, but can't be there during the interview.

"It becomes a safety issue with so many parents and job seekers there," said Karaska.

The important things to remember she says is to dress to impress, bring two forms of I-D and wear a big smile.
