Future of Surflight Theatre on LBI remains up in the air
The historic Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven has been auctioned for $2 million, but the bankruptcy trustee hasn't approved the sale, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
The highest bidder for the complex reportedly came from Greg Russo, but it was $1.5 lower than the amount of debt associated with the property, leaving its future in doubt.
The more than two-acre site includes the 450-seat theater, a 5,400-square-foot cast house, an ice cream parlor, administrative building and a single family home.
Joseph P. Hayes founded The Surflight in 1950.
