Former Neptune High School Star Gets To The Super Bowl
It is the dream of every kid who's ever picked up a football. Former Neptune High School football star Vinny Curry has made it to the Super Bowl.
The Philadelphia Eagles defensive end was an all state player at Neptune High School and was the team's captain and most valuable player according to patch.com, and now he's going to play in the biggest football game on the planet.
Curry is 29 years old and played college football at Marshall. He had a solid season for the Eagles this year, with 3 sacks and a forced fumble, according to espn.com. This season is Vinny's sixth in the NFL.
Curry was drafted in the second round by the Eagles in 2012 and this is his first Super Bowl appearance.
In a recent Jersey Shore poll, many non-Eagles fans (mostly Giants fans) were having trouble choosing who to root for since there is a bitter rivalry with both the Eagles and the Patriots, and most were leaning toward the Patriots (62%).
But we all love to root for a local guy, and maybe the thought of cheering for a former Neptune High standout may erase some of those rivalry feelings. Good luck to Monmouth County's own Vinny Curry in the Super Bowl!
