Former Holbrook Little League President, Treasurer are indicted

The former President and Treasurer of the Holbrook Little League in Jackson have been indicted for allegedly taking money from the league for their personal use, announced Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.

Anthony Del Vecchio,  64, and John Lehman,  56, both of Jackson were charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking by Taking Monies in Excess of $75,000.00 in violation of N.J.S.A.2C:20-3a.

On November 27, 2017, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office received information about the alleged theft of funds from the Holbrook Little League by League President Anthony Del Vecchio.

An investigation was initiated into the use of funds by the executive board of the Holbrook Little League.

Investigators found that Del Vecchio and Treasurer John Lehman had converted over $118,000.00 for their benefit.

Del Vecchio and Lehman were the only signatories on the account and both signatures were required on all checks.

The Ocean County Economic Crimes Unit began investigating Del Vecchio and Lehmann after they received an anonymous letter in December of 2017 detailing the alleged theft of funds from their own league.

An extensive review of Holbrook Little League finances from 2014 to present was then conducted by OCPO with the full cooperation of the League Executive Board members.

The board noticed something wasn't right and started having concerns about League funds after noticing some discrepancies in their accounts.

Both men were arrested in February of 2018.
