A seat-belt violation leads to a Forked River man being arrested for marijuana possession in Lakehurst on Tuesday around 2:51 pm.

Police spotted the windshield on James M. Moriarty Jr.'s, 34, silver mini-van was cracked and that he wasn't wearing a seat-belt.

While investigating, Lakehurst Police Officers say they found multiple individually packaged cartridges containing suspected Cannabidiol (CBD), a vape pen containing suspected Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and other evidence suggesting the sale of these items.

Moriarty Jr. was then placed under arrest and was transported to Lakehurst Police Headquarters for processing.

He was then charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was issued a summons for the charges.

Moriarty Jr. was also issued three motor vehicle summonses for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Wear Seat Belt and Obstruction of View and was released pending a mandatory court appearance with the Ocean County Superior Court.

The public and media are reminded that all criminal charges are merely accusations and all subjects are innocent until proven guilty.
