Heroic First Responders battled a blaze over the weekend in Southern Ocean County. Firefighters from towns around the State responded to this fire that burned approximately 70 acres in Little Egg Harbor, according to the latest from New Jersey Forest Fire Service. It was originally reported nearly 1,000 acres had burned.

According to Channel 6 ABC-TV in Philadelphia, numerous firefighters from throughout the state responded to this weekend fire, which took place in a portion of the Bass River State Forest in Little Egg Harbor. This fire coming just days after 4 alarm fire that destroyed a townhouse complex in Little Egg Harbor, which left numerous families homeless.

According to unconfirmed reports, nearly 70 acres burned Sunday in Little Egg Harbor in the area of Otis Bog Road and Stage Road in the Southern end of the Township. Sirens could be heard throughout the township Sunday as crews from around South Jersey came to help in controlling this blaze that scorched nearly 100 acres in Ocean County and portions of Burlington County.

According to the Channel 6 ABC-TV report, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service sent approximately 70 firefighters along with 39 municipal fire departments and 150 structural firefighters. A huge thank you to these men and women for keeping this fire from devastating local neighborhoods and possibly destroying homes and businesses.
