Fire burns through two homes in Monmouth Beach

A fire that burned at one home in Monmouth Beach ended up spreading to a second home on Valentine Street due to windy conditions on Tuesday morning.

Townsquare Media New Jersey Chief Meteorologist Dan Zarrow said wind gusts out of the northwest at 25 mph likely helped fan the flames.

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden told WOBM News that residents of the primary home were evacuated and did not suffer any injuries.

The flames from the first of the two 3-story homes to catch fire was sending smoke into the air visible by the arriving firefighters and first responders at the scene including the Monmouth County OEM and EMS Task Force.

Firefighters remained on scene into the afternoon as hot spots flared up at the scene.

There were no injuries to the responding firefighters.

Sheriff Golden said the Monmouth County Fire Marshalls Office is investigating the house fires on Valentine Street.

He commended all the emergency personnel "for their quick and responsive actions and thanks all first responders for maintaining safety."

On the scene of the home fires were fire departments from Monmouth Beach, Sea Bright, Long Branch, Asbury Park, Neptune Township, Little Silver and Deal. The Monmouth Beach First Aid Squad was also on scene along with Monmouth Beach Police. The Atlantic Highlands First Aid and Safety Squad were on scene as well.
