I have talked about A Need We Feed in the past but for those who don’t know this is a grassroots organization born out of Superstorm Sandy.

As members of the restaurant community they helped feed those displaced by the storm and first responders who arrived in Ocean County to provide assistance.  On Thanksgiving Day that year in the Toms River home of co-founder Cliff Baker and with a big assist from co-founder “Chef” Mike Jurusz they provided 350 meals in an open house for those who really had no other place to go.

A month later at Christmas it was another 600 meals prepared and delivered to those helping and those who needed help.  A tradition was born.

In the years since they have grown and several times a year around holidays A Need We Feed steps up to provide meals for local residents in need, veterans, the elderly, first responders and others.  Made up of all-volunteers and now a 501(c) (3) non-profit they have set a lofty goal for their Christmas Morning feeding…1,200 hot meals and toys for children.

With that said on Saturday night Bum Rogers Crabhouse in South Seaside Park will host a Toy Drive & Ugly Sweater Party which will benefit A Need We Feed.  Starting at 7 p.m. bring a toy donation of $10 or more and you’ll receive a free drink voucher.  There will be signed Sports Memorabilia, a dice roll game of chance, a 50/50, giveaways and much more.

Entertainment will be provided by Bubble Gum Machine and The Nerds along with Andy Chase from our sister station 105.7 The Hawk.  Should be a good time for a great cause.

Coming up on January 20th they will host a Casino Night Fundraiser at Aqua Blu in Toms River so they can continue their mission to feed those in need.

They are always looking for those who want to get involved and there are several ways you help.  Visit their website  aneedtofeed.com for more information.
