Although some results continue to be tallied into the early morning hours today and all results are "unofficial," it appears as if  there were few surprises in this year's election.

Cory Booker won his first full term as a U.S. Senator in Tuesday’s election. The Democrat crushed his Republican challenger, Jeff Bell. More on this story here: Cory Booker retains U.S. Senate seat.

Republican Tom MacArthur appears to have outpaced Democrat Aimee Belgard in the  3rd District, with 45,310 votes compared with Belgard's 27,152 votes, with all districts reporting. MacArthur led in Burlingon County as well.

In the race for Ocean County Freeholder, Joseph Vicari outpaced challenger Timothy Ryan, with 72,527 votes compared with 54,113 votes, according to the Ocean County Clerk's website. 

At the local municipal level in Ocean County, longtime Manchester Mayor Michael Freesola appears to have been ousted by challenger Kenneth Palmer. With all district's reporting, Palmer received 9,668 votes to Freesola's 5,176 votes.

In Lakewood, Republican Michael D'Elia and Democrat Raymond Coles, fetched 8,579 and 7,189 votes, respectively, to Republican Steven Langert'a 6,467 votes and Democrat Moshe Raitzik's 3,579 votes.

In Monmouth County, votes continued to be tallied into the early morning hours, with provisional ballots pending, but Frank Pallone appears to have defeated challenger Anthony Wilkinson. As of the early morning hours this morning, with 119 districts reporting out of 157, Pallone had 20,308 votes to Wilkinson's 17,917.

With 308 of 458 districts reporting, Republican Gary Rich had 60,585 votes, followed by incumbent Lillian Burry who had 59,995 votes, according to the Monmouth County website.  Democrat Larry Luttrell had 52,624 votes, and Joe Grillo had 51,915.
