Egg Harbor man succumbs to injuries from Monday car crash

An Egg Harbor man who township police say blew past a stop sign on Dogwood Avenue Monday morning and collided with another car, has died from injuries sustained in the crash.

91-year old Louis Chanese was heading north in the Cardiff Section of town on Alder Avenue in a 2013 Chrysler 200 close to 11:30 am.

As he drove past the stop sign he hit a 2003 BMW 330 in the west bound lane of Dogwood Avenue driven by 21-year old Eric Battisti who did not reportedly suffer any injuries.

Chanese and his passenger were both transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus.

He passed away today, the passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is being investigated by Patrolman James Ludwig of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
