Egg Harbor man indicted for selling lethal drug concoction to man who overdosed

Fentanyl is 100-times more stronger than morphine, according to the DEA.

It's a tragic and all too common ingredient in the dark world of drug deals.

An Egg Harbor man who gave that to another EHT resident, has now been indicted.

Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill announced Wednesday that Noel Castillo, 32, of Egg Harbor Township was indicted by an Atlantic County Grand Jury for causing the death of 33-year old Jeffrey Schneider of Egg Harbor Township in February.

All in all, Castillo was indicted on the charges of First-Degree Strict Liability for a Drug Induced Death, Third-Degree Possession of CDS, Third-Degree Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS, Third-Degree Distribution of CDS, Third-Degree Financial Facilitation of Criminal Activity, and Second-Degree Endangering Child Welfare.

Schneider was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead by Egg Harbor Police on February 18, 2021 at a residence in the township.

An investigation between the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Unit and the Egg Harbor Police led to the conclusion that Schneider ingested a lethal dose of fentanyl he bought from Castillo who was arrested at his home in Egg Harbor Township on February 25 without incident.

Castillo remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
