A Berkeley Township man is facing charges after Ocean County investigators found copious amounts of drugs being prepared for dealing inside a home on 14 Bedeviere Court in the Holiday City section.

Jason Andrew Scala, 47, is charged with Possession of Control Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Possession with the Intent to Use Drug Paraphernalia, Possession with the Intent to Use a Hypodermic Needle.

Berkeley Township Police and the Ocean County Prosecutors Office made the bust Tuesday night around 8:50 pm by executing a search warrant stemming from an ongoing narcotics distribution investigation and other quality of life matters reported by concerned citizens, according to OCPO Spokesman Al Della Fave.

Police found cocaine along with material used to manufacture, package and distribute cocaine in the house.

Prescription pills, marijuana and suspected heroin were also found in the home.

Scala was arrested and brought to the Ocean County Jail.

Investigators suspect that the home was also being used as what is commonly referred to as a “crack house”, a location used by multiple non-residents and transients for the purpose of using narcotics as well as distributing them.

Prostitution was also alleged to have occurred at this home.

The home was also being used as unlicensed tattoo parlor.

Needless to say the home drew the attention of neighborhood residents with the amount of cars and people passing through.

Denis Mitchell and Anthony Carrington III also assisted with the investigation.

Assisting in the execution of the search warrant was the Berkeley Township Patrol Division, the Ocean Gate Detective Bureau, the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.

The media is reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations and that these defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
