Dog destined for dinner gets new home — and new face

SEWELL — A woman who was once the owner of "the world's ugliest dog" took in another dog that was destined for dinner in Thailand.

Karen Quigley collected $11,000 on a Go Fund Me account to bring Teresa, a 2-year-old mixed breed, to her Sewell home from Thailand after a man attacked her there with with a machete, according to 6ABC Action News.

Teresa has been in South Jersey and has settled in at her new home, according to the report. She become friendly with Quigley's other animals, including other rescue dogs and a pig. This week she had surgery to repair her teeth and tongue.

Karen's previous dog was Elwood, named the ugliest dog at the Marin-Sonoma County Fair in California in 2012. He died in 2013.
