Townsquare Media and the Jay & Linda Grunin Foundation are teaming up to salute our local heroes with our Warrior of the Week program.

Congratulations to Frank Conforti, Our Warrior of the Week for the week of November 27, 2017.

In the words of Frank's nominator:

"He's a 100yr old WWII vet. He worked on a tank and traveled all over training other soldiers. It is said that he even drove General Patton around twice.

As a teen, he played baseball in the Bronx against some well-known players such as Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, and Tommy Lasorda. He got to meet Babe Ruth and was there for Lou Gehrig's farewell speech. He was even drafted by his favorite team, the NY Yankees.

He used to do freelance drawings for Walt Disney and was offered a job in California but opted to stay in NY. He has been married to his wife, Laura, for over 71yrs. In his retirement years, he was an avid golfer and bowler, winning several awards. He and his wife have slowed down a bit but he still enjoys spending time chatting with family and friends.

Congratulations to Frank Conforti, our Warrior of the Week.

Do you know a deserving past or present military member? Nominate them now. Every Military Monday, we’ll share one of the nominations and honor that person as our Warrior of the Week.
