The official holiday season may be over but that doesn't mean the spirit of the holidays is over. In fact we should make an effort to give year round.

That's what the Cherokee High School Girls Basketball Team in Marlton (Burlington County) is doing by collecting a minimum of 150 new and gently used shoes alongside the Lady Chiefs Hoops Association to help the non-profit Soles4Souls in fighting global poverty.

The shoes will be delivered to Soles4Souls who provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world.

Founded in 2006, they've been able to distribute over 30,000,000 pairs of new and used shoes across 127 countries worldwide.

All of the donated shoes from the Lady Chiefs Hoops Association will be distributed to S4S's micro-enterprise programs.

If you have a new or old but gently used pair of sneakers you want to donate:

  • You have until January 31 to bring your new or used shoes of any kind to Cherokee HS South Main (during school hours), 198 Country Farms Rd (on the porch) or 25 Old Republic Ln (by garage) in Marlton, NJ.
