JEFFERSON — At least 20 people have reported having information stolen from an ATM machine in this Morris County township.

Police Det. Joseph Kratzel said the ATM skimming was reported between Dec. 23 and Jan. 2 on the outdoor machine at the Lakeland Bank, which is located at 5729 Berkshire Valley Road.

ATM skimming, he said, involves a device hidden that can take a user's card and PIN numbers, allowing the skimmer to access the user's account and withdraw money.

Anyone who used the machine during this time is encouraged to check their records for any suspicious activity. Fraudulent transactions should be reported to the Jefferson Township Detective Bureau.
